047 | Situated about ¼ of a mile N.W. [North West] of Mill of Torry and near the N.W. L [North West corner] of a park and a little S [South] of the public road at the North of the said park, and better known in the locality by the name 'Cave' which was discovered in 1850 by means of the plough touching the roofing stones and was explored and removed by Mr Charles Temple of Cloysterseat. It measured 60 feet in length 5 feet wide and 10 feet in height, mouth or entrance from the East, with a steep decline. The relics found within were pieces of a very primitive earthenware pottery, numerous flakes of (yellow) flint. A Jet (black) ornament of a bracelet (thus ) nearly 1 inch in length, And also a quantity of Charcoal Ashes. |
