012 This Council mound is situate S. [South] side of the P. [Public] road, and west side of the OC. [Old County] road leading to Mrs. Wood's farm. It has been considered as an ambiguity by the oldest inhabitant, several years ago it was partly excavated, but whether any thing was found or not, I could not ascertain. It is generally believed to be a place of Sepulture used by the aborigines of the Country.
"There are many Tumuli in this parish & neighbourhood, some have been opened and found to contain Coffins of Gray flagstones, set on their edges, sides and ends, & covered above with the same sort of stones. In those coffins were human bones." Old Statistical Account
