It contains an Established Church, Quoad Sacra Church, Free Church, an Episcopal Chapel, Congregational Chapel & a Baptist Chapel, also 3 Parish Schools. The Principal village in the Parish is that of New Pitsligo.
"The name of the Parish is said to be of Gaelic origin and to signify 'The King's house' Tradition bears that a religious house once existed near the Site of the Present Church". New Statistical Account
The site or the Supposed Site of the religious house above referred to cannot be identified on the ground, but the site of the Old Parish church has been identified.
