It is bounded on the north by the parish of King Edward, on the south by Auchterless, on the east by the parish of Monquhitter and on the West by the parishes of Alvah , Forglen and Inverkeithnie Co. [County] Banff. Turriff parish contains about 18489 Statute acres, There are no detached portions of this parish, neither are there detached portions of any other parish within its limits. It contains the Burgh of Barony and Market Town of its own name. "The River Deveron traces most of the boundary with Banffshire, and makes there a large curving deflection toward the east so as at the head of the deflection to compress, the breadth of the parish to less than 3 miles. A considerable Stream, called the burn of Turriff, having a total course of about 10 miles, comes in on the east from Monquhitter and runs [continued] |
