019 The Site of a Castle, the date of its erection is not known, but it is supposed to have been built during the fourteenth Century. It passed into the hands of the Simpsons, in whose possession it was in the year 1696. It was sold soon after to the Erroll family. In the year 1762 it passed into the hands of Peter Garden, Esqr. of Troup. In 1798 he sold it to the late James, Earl of Fife. It was afterwards purchased, and is now in the possession of Ainslie Douglas Ainslie, Esqr. of Delgaty. The present tenant while removing the remaining portion of the foundation in 1850, disenterred a large quantity of Human bones, & ashes. There is not a vestage now Remaining.
