019 A name given to a sloping Bank or Brae, 14 Chains long, the boundry of which is part of the Railway Cutting on the MacDuff and Turriff Section, (G. N of S [Great North of Scotland] Railway) on the south, and the Burn of Turriff on the North Side which is the base. When the river is flooded, which very often occurs it undermines the bank causing portions of it to braek away, hence the name Breaking Braes, Scottice - Brackin Braes.
