061, 070 | This Parish, like many others in Aberdeenshire, and throughout the North of Scotland has a very high altitude and the general appearance of the surface from the North running Southwards is everywhere hilly, admitting of very little extent of plain. It is bounded in the North by Kildrummy and Cabrach parishes; East by Leochel Cushnie; South by Logie Coldstone and on the West by Glenbucket, Strathdon, and Logie Coldstone Parishes. The outline is of a square form, and measures from north to South about five miles and from east to west about 4½ miles or thereabouts. The surface is undulating and the greater portion thereof is under cultivation; and in some parts the soil is very fertile. Near to the parish Church, and situated on the South banks of the River Don, stand the remains of Towie Castle, consisting of a square tower, measuring about 30 feet in height or thereby, and situated a little to the West thereof are the remains of a curved or arched chamber.
