Sh [Sheet] 60. Tom na h-Eirigh 1st Col. [Column] O.N. Bk [Ordnance Name Book]
"Toman iarach" (West Knoll) in pencil
The origin of this name seems obscure.
Would it mean Knoll of the slanting, or
going off the straight. that is the road takes
a bend at this place, hence Tom an Fhiaraidh
pronounced Tom an iarie.
The name as in 2nd Col. [Column] may be as near as any
as a phonetic name.
