Here also is a market Cross, consisting of an upright pillar of hewn granite, raised on a pedestal of Circular steps, and measuring nearly twelve feet from the ground to the top, About the middle of this pillar is an iron staple with links, the remains of the jugs, in which offenders were wont to be exposed to public shame. |
