A.D. M.DCC.XXIII," [1723] among Macfarlane's M.S. [Manuscripts] Geographical Collection, is the following account: North from Memsie is a large muir, named the Cairnmuir, from three very large Cairns of Stones, half a mile north-east of Memsie; they are about a hundred yards distant from one another. Each is near a hundred yards of Circumference at the basis, and [continued p.5]
