023 A Small fishing village, the property of Admiral Ferguson of Pitfour, Situated about half a mile N. [North] of Peterhead, extending from the public road to the sea. The houses are single storied and not a few in a dilapidated condition. It is neither paved nor drained, and consequently not over clean. A subscription School has been recently erected. It is also provided with a substantial pier, projecting into the Sea about 70 Yards, at which the boats discharge their loads of fish.

023 A substantial plain building, erected by Subscription in 1867, and handed over to the Society for the propigation of Christian Knowledge, and under the supervision of the presbetry of Peterhead. One teacher whose salary is madeup by government and the society, besides school fees. The number of scholars is about 80, who are instructed in the elementary branches of education usually taught in Parish Schools. Examined and inspected Annually. Teacher's name Mr McDonald.
