021 Applies to a Small wooded hill. Situated about 3 Miles West of the Village of Old Deer. It is supposed to have taken this name from an old man who used to live close to it, long ago.

021 There was once a fine spring well here, but it now covered in, it was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The late Revd. Dr. [Reverend Doctor] Pratt says in his history of Buchan Appendix AA. p. [page] 373. "There is a well in the hollow between Clachriach and Bruxie, called the 'Lady's Well;' in all probability in honour of the Virgin Mother, to whom the neighbouring abbey was dedicated.
