021 | The northern declivity of this Hill is called "Aiky" or "Yackie Brae," a name derived, according to some opinions, from the oaks with which it was once clad; others with better reason, believe it owes its name to Achaius or Yochoch, a King of the Picts, and brother to Drostan, the patron saint of the parish. The removal of a portion of the relics of this saint from Aberdour to Deer is still commemorated by a fair - long famous, but now of less note - known as Aiky Fair, and held on the third Wednesday of July."
