Vide Statistical Account Page 477 This church is the established parish church, and is a good plain building, in a pretty good state of repair, with a graveyard &c attached, and will accommodate about 800 hearers. the present minister is the Revd [Reverend] James C. Easton.

046 This name applies to a mass of rock, situated on the Feuar's Common of Old Meldrum; & it is said that this was the spot where Comyn, (Earl of Buchan) fell when pursued by Bruce's troops at the Battle of Barra. 25 Dec [December] 1307. This name is very much corrupted now. some calling it "Granage stone," Grenegle stone, Chronicle stone, & so on, but "Groaning stone" is the proper name.
