082 Very little remains are to be seen of the ancient Castle of Auchinhove. The present tenant, however, points out several portions of the walls, which appear to have been of great strength. It belonged to the family of the Duguids and was burned by the Royalists on their march to Culloden; and the Laird, having espoused the cause of the Pretender in 1745, is said to have watched the progress of the flames from one of the neighbouring hills.
