014 | The site of this Ancient place is about half a mile E. [East] of Kininmonth, Said to have been in existence before the reformation. About twenty years ago a skeleton was removed from beneath a tombstone, within the mound, in a good state of preservation. No dedicatory name can be traced. Known more than a hundred years ago as the "Old Chapel of Kininmonth" On the propy. [property] of Mr. Russell. "The site of the old chapel of Kininmonth, on the south border of the parish of Lonmay, at about a couple of miles from Logie, may still be pointed out. In a "Description of the parish of Lonmay A.D. MDCC.XXII. [Anno Domini 1722]," among Macfarlane's Geographical M.S. [Manuscript] collections, this chapel is mentioned: "Half a mile to the east of Kininmonth ther is the remains of and old chappell and a burial place, though now in desutude" "Pratt's Buchan" |
