040 This chapel was erected by the sect Known as the associate Synod about the middle of the eighteenth century, no vestige of it now remains. James Buchan Esq. and Mr. James Ruxton say that the walls were removed about 30 years ago.

040 This chapel is believed to have been a Roman Catholic place of worship, and having become obsolete at the period of the Reformation it was allowed to fall into decay. Mr. James Ruxton, farmer, Leys, says that he remembers seeing the track of the walls, and assisted to remove a few of the stones which formed the foundation. Mr. Ruxton is 82 years of age.
