In Sheet 76 of the inch
Ordnance Survey map of Scotland,
a hill 57º 10' N. Lat [North Latitude] and 2º 50'
W. Long. [West Longitude]. is marked "Sockaugh"
A point about half a mile S.E. [South East]
from "Sockaugh", locally known
as Preasandye, is marked
"Pittenderich."
As these hills are not known
by these names, except through
the influence of the maps,
would the Ordnance Survey
kindly furnish information as
