MELSHACH WELL | Melshach Well | Statistical Account of Aberdeenshire Mr. Scatterty, Rothney Village, Insch, Mr. Maitland Craighall |
034 | A Mineral Well in the Moss of Leithhall. The County people long believed that the waters of this well had the power of curing all kinds of disease. "A mineral spring, in the moss of the Melshach, is still in great reputation among the common people. They use it both internally and externally, in the summer season, particularly in the month of May. Its sanative qualities are supposed to extend to brutes. It is customary to leave at the well, part of the cloths of the sick and diseased, and harness of the cattle." Collections of the Shires |
