Mr. Alexander Henderson. Tenant Mr. Alexander Henderson. Holy Well. Mr. Peter Mathieson. Josephston. |
043 | There was once a fine spring well here, it is now destoyed as the farmer accidentally cut the spring while draining. Tradition says this was the well which the Druids used while in this district. The well is situated at the foot of the hill called Ardlair Wood, on which stands the remains of a Druidical Temple. If this well ever had any connection with the Druids ? I think it should be "Holly Well" and not "Holy Well". |
