Revd. [Reverend] John Keith Keith Hall
Mr David Brown Teacher Keith Hall
055 A small portion of very slightly elevated ground situated on the road side about midway between the Manse and Hillhead. Originally it presented more the appearance of a Knoll, when the ground around it was rough and uncultivated, but since the cultivation of the adjacent land and the filling in of a marsh which lay on its south side it has been all but levelled. It has been much longer cultivated than any of the surrounding country. A small chapel stood on its summit, in which it is said the Pope's Legate slept for a night on his way to Harlaw, previous to the battle which bears that name. This is said to be the origin of the name.
