Inverury [continued] | The principal antiquities in the parish are the Bass, close to the graveyard, Conyng Hillock, near the Manse, and the ruins of the Chapel of St Apolinaris. Of Stone Circles there is one at Aquhorthies very complete, and several stones of another may be seen at Brandsbutt. There are also several sculptured stones in the parish - two in the graveyard, one at Drimmies and one at Brandsbutt. To obviate as far as possible, the mistakes arising in the postal department from the similarity of the names Inverary and Inverury the name has recently been changed to Inverurie - (Vide Page 35) Note: There is no portion of this parish detached, nor portion, or portions of any other parish enclosed within the boundary of this parish. |
