091 This is a small rounded Craig lying on the S. [South] Side of the Dee immediately opposite the village of Ballater and commands a fine view of it; and the Surrounding Scenery. it presents a rugged face towards the N. [North].

091 There is a large Cairn on its highest point, which was erected on the occasion of the Marriage of Colonel Farquharson. Invercauld. It is 55 links in Circumference being circular at the base, and about 24 feet high. It is built of rough unhewn stones without mortar. There is a flag staff erected at its S. [South] Side; for the purpose of hoisting a flag upon on some occasions.
