026 A small steam taking its name from the Public Road leading to Huntly, and after a North-Westerly course of about 50 chains enters the Parish of Drumblade a few chains to the North-east of Easter Mosshead, and finally falls into the River Bogie, close to Huntly Station. It is supposed that a man named Thain, was found drowned in this burn. "hence the name".

026 A name applied to faint traces of an artificial hollow, situated on the North-East side of Cot Hill, from 30 to 40 links wide. *Tradition records it to have been excavated by Robert the Bruce's army, about the year 1300 or 1400.
