[South] of Stonehouse the name is apparently Scotch or rather as, it is said, the Scotch of Whinny Shealing viz Badie-bathie or (better) Badiebawth. The name is frequently expressed in the district as if written Bedybath The proprietor The Earl of Aberdeen. |

029 | Situated in an old plantation called Badiebath and near the north Side of it, The W [West] end terminates within 50 links of the Burn of Stonehouse; About 13, Chains S.E. [South East] of Stonehouse Farm and leads E. [East] for about 12 Chains where it comes within 130 links of the Co. [County] Road. from which, it leads S.E. [South East] and less defined and after 5. Chains becomes quite undefined. The plantation seems to be upward of 70. years old and it seems to have kept the trench in question in obscurity and almost forgotten Old tradition of the district however seems to declare it pictish or Pictish encampment. |
