048 "Foveran has its name from the Castle here which is very Old, and is thought to be so called from a sweet and very impetuous Spring (at the foot of the wall having an Arch built over it) for the Irish "Foveran" Signfies a Spring. There is no vestige remaining of the Castle of Foveran, nor of Turing's Tower which is still more ancient. (New Stat Act [Statistical Account] P. [Page 69[.] )

FOVERAN CASTLE (Site of)
There are no remains of the Castle except the Arch over the Spring, which is
Supposed to have been at the foot of the Northern Exterior Wall. Over this arch may
still be seen a Marble bust supposed to be a Bust of one of the Jurings the
earliest known proprietors of the Castle.
