035 | Mr Mearns says that in the year 1860, he removed the stones from this cairn and came upon something like a stone Cist, which was filled with red and white ashes, he also found two stones thus [sketch] about 18 inches long and about 12 inches wide, being hollow in the centre. The stones do not belong to this part of the country, as one of them is Freestone & the other Ironstone. The hollow in the centre of the Stones appear to have been made by sharpening a Spade or Shovel on it. |
