032 Dun Buy, which has obtained an additional celebrity by being mentioned in the Antiquary, is about half a mile from the Castle, and is chiefly remarkable for a magnificent natural arch pierced through its very centre. "Dunbuy", says Dr. [Doctor] Johnson, "which in Erse is said to signify the Yellow Rock, is a double protuberance of stone, open to the main sea on one side, and parted from the land by a very narrow channel on the other. It has its name and its colour from the dung of inumerable sea-fowls, which in the spring choose this place as convenient for incubation." Extract from Dr. [Doctor] Pratts History of Buchan page 50.
