043 When one of the Tenants of Gordonstown was improving a piece of waste ground, about the beginning of the present year 1866, he found a small round stone which had formed part of a handmill, having a feeding hole in the centre. It measures about 15 inches in diameter and can be seen at Gordonstown.

043 A low hill to the North of Mar's Road. It was on this hill that the Clan Forbes fortified themselves in 1572, when they fought against the Gordons at Tillyangus. An old historian says that when the Gordons' were seen marching up the hill "Forbes fortifyed himsel with a large camp."
