045 | At this spot, about a quarter of a mile north of the field of battle, the tenant of Harlaw, when trenching a portion of barren ground, dug up the bones of about 12 human bodies, in the year 1837. The tenant is still living. |

045 | " About a hundred yards to the west of the farm of Harlaw, is to be seen a large whinstone about 7 feet in height and 2 in breadth which is called the "Liggar's Stane," and is said to have been put up in its present situation, to mark the spot where the females who followed the soldiers, and who were slain in the battle, were buried." This stone has been removed from its original situation, and now forms a pillar for a gate close to Harlaw House. |
