041 A River having its source about four miles south west from the Parish Church, near the boundary of Cabrach and Glenbucket, and after running in an easterly direction for two miles, takes in the brook of Lerkindie, and other two small brooks, which spring out of the Buck. then continuing its course a little to the west of the church: it runs straight north three and a half miles, till it meets with the Blackwater, and after mixing here with Blackwater: they take together the common name of Blackwater.

041 Tradition asserts that one of the Kings of Scotland forded the Ault Dovern here, and that when he reached the Aberdeenshire side: he had an encounter with three tinkers, who left him for dead: which led to passing an Act of severe penalties against Tinkers, vizt. that if three Tinkers were ever seen together, any person seeing them was at liberty to shoot one of them.
