051 | This wood takes its name from its leading from Kildrummy Castle, the chief seat of the Earls of Mar and Garioch, to the Garioch. It was at one time a main line of communication but since the road by Auchindoir and Rhynie was properly constructed it has in a great measure fallen into desuetude, though it may still be occasionally used as a shorter line by riders and foot passengers, & so may in a certain sense be considered public as not shut up against. The road Commissioners now take no concern with it, but that it is still open to the public |
