[Page] 141A Survey of the Carriage and Horse Tax in the Burgh of Sanquhar
from 5 April 1788 to 5 April 1789 by [William Currie Surveyor]
[I William Currie Surveyor] aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon Carefull Examination of the foregoing
[several rates and] duties I find they Amount in whole to two pounds Sterg. [Sterling] and that upon the
[----------] 1788 I delivered to William Whigan Collr. [Collector] for the Said duties for the
[Burgh aforesaid] an exact duplicate of the foregoing which contained my Oath that Requisitions
[were left with the] several Inhabitants or at their dwelling houses of the dates annexed to their
[respective names] and that the Above is the duplicate of the Returns made by them to me or
[my knowledge or] by the best information I could get. William Currie Surveyor
