Survey of The Duties on Carriage and Riding Horses arisen in The Burgh of Arbroath
The half Year from The 10th Octor [October] 1784 to the 5th April 1785 by William Greig Surveyor

17 Horsees for the Saddle for ½ Year from 10th Octr [October] 1784 to 5th April 1785 at 5s [£0.5.0] each is £4.5.0

I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull examination
of the foregoing duties I find they amount in whole to Four Pounds Five Shillings
Sterling, and that upon the [...] day of [...] 1786 I delivered Mr John Colvill
Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact duplicate of the
above Account (as will appear from [...]) duly examined
and compared with the foregoing, which contained my Oath that Nottices
were left with the several persons before named or at their dwelling Houses of the
dates annexed to their respective names requiring them within fourteen days
to give in A list of their Horses retained or employed by them from the Tenth of
Octor. [October] 1784 to the fifth of April 1785, and the said Account or Survey is made out
from the lists returned to me, and from the best information I could procure of the
Horses of those who neglected or refused to give in a list thereof in terms of the nottices
left with them as aforesaid
