Att Edr [Edinburgh] 13 febr [february] 1695
In presence of The Earle of Breadalbane
Compeared James Hamiltoun of Ballderstoun Collector
of the Hearth money of west Louthean alias linlithgow
shyre who being sworn and examined Declared That
the forsd [forsaid] list of Hearths within the [above] writn [written] parochins of
Borrowstownness and Carriden and town of Linlithgow
within the sd [said] shyre Extending to the number of two thousand
six hundred and twenty two hearths which are payed
& the number of ane hundred and threttie six belonging
to poor which are exeemd by law and the number of one
hundred and seventy three deficients Given in by him is
ane true list of all the hearths wtin [within] the fords [forsaid] parochins
and town to the best of his knowledge And that he
hes used his utmost endeavour Conform to the
proclamations of Councell anent Ingathering of the hearth
money to attain to the Knowledge of all the hearths
within the forsd [forsaid] bownds and that he hes not wittingly
nor willingly concealed any, but Given up the
samen truely as said is And this is the truth As
He shall answer to God
