In presence of The Earle of Cassillis, Compeared Hary
Ross in Arthurseer, sub Collr [Collector] of the Hearth Money wthin [within] the Shires
of Elgine & Forres & Nairn, Being solemnly sworn & examined
Declared, That the forsd [forsaid] Lists of Hearths Extending to Three
thousand, one hundred, Fourtye Fyve which are payed
(And The Shirreffe of Murray, The Lairds of Caddell, Kiraick [Kilravick]
& Dulmaglesh, They being deficient for their whole [juteies]
in the Shire of Nairne) (there being no poore) Is a just & true
list of all the Hearths within the forsd [forsaid] Bounds. And that
he hes used his utmost endeavores, Conform to proclamations
of Councell, anent the ingathering of the Hearth money, To attaine
to the Knowledge of all the sd [said] Hearths. and that he hes not wit:
tingly or willingly concealled any bot given up the samen truely
as sd [said] is And this is the truth as he shall answere to God
The true number of Hearths deponed upon is Three Thousand one hundred & Fourty
