I Robert Aiken Surveyor aforesaid, Do hereby Certify, That upon careful
examination of the foregoing rates and duties, I find they amount in whole to
Four pounds Eighteen shillings sterling; And that upon the twenty first day
of January current I delivered to Mr James Johnston collector of said
duties for said Burgh, an exact duplicate of and duly Examined and
Compared with the foregoing account which contained my Oath that
Notifications were delivered or left of the dates foresaid And that the Rates
charged in said Account were just and true to the best of my skill and
knowledge; and to the best of my belief no person liable to be
charged was omitted.

I Daniel Ross Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon Carefull
Examination of the foregoing Duties they amount to one pound Sixteen
Shilling Sterling and I do make oath that Nottices were left with the
Several Persons before Named or at there Dwelling Houses of the
respective dates aforeSaid requiring them to give in a list of the Carts
retained or employed by them from the 5th of April 1787 to the 5th of April
1788 and that the foregoing Survey is made out from each of these
Acknowledgements that they keep a Cart for the purpose of hyring

the foregoing Several Rates and Duties I find they Amount in whole to the Sum of
Three pounds Four Shillings Sterlling and that upon the Nineteenth day of November

the foregoing several Rates and Duties I find they Amount in whole to Twenty Six pounds
Fourteen Shillings Sterling and that upon this Eighteenth day of December Current I delivered to
John Carlile Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact Duplicate of
the above Account duly examined and Compared with the foregoing which contained my
Oath that Notices were left with the several Inhabitants or at their Dwelling houses
of the dates annexed to the respective names that they were to be charged with the

I William Brunton Surveyor aforesaid to hereby Certify that
upon Careful examination of the foregoing Rates & Duties I find
they amount in whole to the sum of £2.0.0 Sterling, and that
upon the 2 day of Nov. [November] I delivered to James Blak Collector of
said duties for the Shire aforesaid an exact duplicate of the
above duly examined & Compared with the foregoing which
contained my Oath that notices were left with the Several
Inhabitants that they were to be Charged with the Sums
Set against their Several Names.

I Anthony Macmillan Surveyor afore said do hereby certify that upon careful
examination of the foregoing several Rates and Duties I find they amount in whole
to the sum of eighteen shillings Sterling and that upon the fourth
day of January one thousand seven hundred & eighty eight years I delivered to Mr.
John Ewan Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh afore said an

Survey of the Duties on two Wheeled Carts in the Burgh of Montrose for one
year from the 5th April 1787 to the 5th April 1788 By Daniel Ross Surveyor
I Daniel Ross Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull
Examination of the foregoing duties they amount in whole to two pounds
Sterling and I do make Oath that Nottices were left with the Several
Persons before Named or at there Dwelling houses of the respective dates
requiring them to give in a list of the Carts retained or employed by
them from the 5th of April 1787 to the 5th of April 1788 and that the forg
oing Survey is made out from the list returned to me and from
the best information I could procure of the Carts of those who replied
or refused to return alist thereof in terms of the Nottices left with them

I David Hutcheson Surveyor aforesaid do hereby
Certify that upon Carefull examination of the
foregoing Several Rates and duties I find they
amount in whole to the Sum of One Pound six
teen shillings Sterling and that upon the date
hereof I delivered to Mr James Cross Collector
of the said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid
an exact Duplicate of the above Account duley
examined and Compared with the foregoing which
contained my oath that Notices were (were) left
with the several Inhabitants or at their dwelling
houses of the dates annexed to their respective Names
that they were to be Charged with the Sums
hereby Certified to be due from them

From 5th April 1787. to 5th April 1788 By Robert Aiken Surveyor
I Robert Aiken Surveyor aforesaid, Do hereby Certify, That upon Carefull
Examination of the foregoing Rates and Duties, I find they Amount in whole
to One pounds Sterling and that upon the twenty sixth day of January Current
I caused to be delivered to John Blane Esquire Collector of said Duties for
said Burgh, an Exact duplicate of and duly examined and Compared
with the foregoing account,which contained my Oath that Notifications were
delivered or left of the dates foresaid, and that the Rates charged in said
account were just and true charges to the best of my skill & knowledge;
and to the best of my belief, no person liable to be charged, was omitted.
And I am now possessed of the said John Blain's Letter of the above date
acknowledging the Receipt of said duplicate.

carefull Examination of the foregoing Rates & duties, they Amount to Four
pounds fourteen Shillings Ster. [Sterling] & that upon the first Curr. [Current] I delivered to Mr John
McGibbon Collector of said duties for the Borough aforesaid an exact duplicate of
the above Account, which contained my Oath that Intimation was given [to the]
several Inhabitants of the dates aforesaid that they were charged with the Rates
& duties hereby Certified to be due from them

whole to the sum of four shillings Sterling and that upon the fifth day
of January one thousand seven hundred & eighty eight years [1788] I delivered
to Mr James McDowal Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid
an exact Duplicate of the foregoing which contained my oath that
Requisitions were left with the Several Persons, or at their dwelling
Places, chargeable with the Sums hereby certified to be due from
