peeblesshire-1967-vol-2/04_002 £10:10s For the two volumes
peeblesshire-1967-vol-2/04_002 These two volumes contain descriptions of all the ancient monuments and historical buildings in Peeblesshire from earliest times to 1707, and of representative examples of later buildings down to the middle of the nineteenth century. A large number of the prehistoric forts, settlements and burial places, in which the county is particularly rich, have been discovered in the course of the survey, as has the Roman fort at Easter Happrew. In the architectural field detailed accounts are provided of the two outstanding buildings, Neidpath Castle and Traqauir House, while many of the other structures - castles and tower-houses, churches, country houses, roads and bridges, and early industrial buildings - are adequately described for the first time. The relationship of the monuments to one another and to the geographical, historical and linguistic background is discussed in an introduction, and the whole is illustrated with a wealth of line drawings, photographs and maps.

peeblesshire-1967-vol-2/04_012 Message for Scots Exile: Please refer to the Inventories Guidelines before continuing with these pages. You will find them here - http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/transcribe/forums/transcriptions/faqs-frequently-asked-questions/1234417 This page is an example of how to do tables and lists - http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/rcahms-archives/inventories/argyll-volume-1-1971/11#zoom=2&lat=1582.5&lon=1225&layers=B by inserting ' -- ' between the separate elements. Also note that the text on page 2 of this volume should not be transcribed as continuous text but follow the line-breaks of the original. Thank you. Alison James Moderator Following your email which was forwarded to me: you need to put a space either side of the dashes separating the list elements, I've done the first few lines for you. Also please look at the first page you had done, page 2, the inside cover in fact, to see how I have put line breaks in to reproduce the way the text appears on the page. I do not specialise in Inventories, and am therefore not entirely sure about italics. I'll try to get the Project Officer to contact you about that. AJ
