a bank of turf some 5'.6" in thickness faced
in the interior with stones set on end. The interior diameter
is 34' x 36' and the entrance is from the SE. [South East].

"Picts Ho. [House]" (43)
At Ach-na-havish croft about 1 m. [mile] down the
Berriedale water from Braemore Lodge and
some 80 yds. [yards] back from the N. [North] bank of the
river are the remains of what has probably
been a "Picts House." A number of upright stones
remain which appear to have formed
the supporting pillars of a gallery in a
circular construction. The diameter over
all is some 37' x 44'. To the uninitiated
the remains of these constructions are
strikingly like stone circles, the pillars are
not, however, set so regularly facing in
one particular direction.

"Picts Ho. [House]" (43)
On the S. [South] bank of the Berriedale
Water about 100 yds. [yards] back from it and
about the same distance to the E. [East] of
the deer fence to the E. [East] of Achnalaid, are
the remains of a pearshaped enclosure
in the wall of which very large slabs have
been used sunk deeply on end. It has
an interior diameter of 27' x 35' and
has been entered from the N. [North]. The
wall seems to have been about 5'.6" in
