Bad a' Gorm burn is visible the base of
a turf bank along the edge of the flow forming
a segment of a circle with a cord of some 200
yds. [yards]. The surface on both sides but es:
:pecially on the concave face is boggy &
I cannot imagine human beings ever
having retired to such a spot.
The base of the bank is now some 12' wide
& its elevation trifling. The crofter, Mr. Sutherland,
had cut a section through it looking for
flint arrow heads! I wonder if it was
erected to keep cattle off the treacherous
flow! This long walk was made
in wetting mist.

Tiantulloch Houstry (27.)
Directly in rear of Tiantulloch croft house
is a broch. On the E. [East] the wall face is
exposed for a height of about 5' for a
considerable part of the periphery. The
diameter over all appears to have been
about 56' - the elevation to the top of
the mound is 10'. On the W. [West] part of
the mound has been removed. Towards
the NE. [North East] is an area evidently occupied
by outbuildings, an exposed wall
bounds it on the S. [South] with an elevation
of a few feet.
