20' beyond the end of the W. [West] row is a single
stone set with its broad face across the
row which may or may not be part of the
monument.
This was a glorious day on the hills.
Not a vestige of a cloud obscured the sun
though by the sea a thick mist lay all day
over the land. It was 6.30 ere we
got home. 12 ms. [miles] on bicycle & 12 on foot.

14th July 1910.
Another fine day. Bicycled to the Grey
Cairns of Camster.

Wick Par. [Parish] Camster Cairns
Situated about [--] m. [mile] N. [North] of Camster Lodge on
the W. [West] side of the road from Lybster to Watten
are two remarkable cairns. The most northerly
is a long horned cairn. It was excavated
& described by Dr. [Doctor] Joseph Anderson & details
must be taken from his description. The
cairn lies NNE [North North East] and SSW [South South West] not E & W [East & West] as stated.
The broad end is to the N. [North] and the entrance
to the chamber from the E [East] side. The
entrance to the small chamber in the
head is open and the passage clear of
debris for 16' inwards. The small chamber
appears to be now filled up. The entrance
to the second chamber 50' S. [South] of the first is
blocked but the chamber in rear of it
