which the O.S. [Ordnance Survey] marks the site of no sign re:
:mains. A walk of 4 ms. [miles] over a very rough
road brought us to Tullochans. On arrival
at the cottages which do duty for shooting lodge
etc. we were met by the keeper, Kenneth Sutherland,
who, on learning our errand, took us to look at
a stone lying among the ruins of a cottage.
To our delight it proved to be a fragment of a

[Margin] Nonsense

runic inscription. The stone is a slab
of red sandstone 2'.6" long, 1'.2" broad and
3" thick roughly rectangular. It has been
broken & split but retains on one edge
the remains of an inscription 5" in length.
A careful search now that the value of the
stone is known may reveal some other por:
:tions of it. I carried it into the keeper's
house for safety.

Thulochans Ruins.
About 1/4 m. [mile] NE [North East] of the Eastmost Loch on a slight eleva:
tion are the ruins of a house measuring
some 34' x 14' & rudely built of very large
stones & slabs. Little but the foundations of
walls some 3' thick remain.

Clach ?Scullochie.
A little more than 1 m. [mile] NE. [North East] of Tullochans
apparently on the parish boundary is a
quadrangular pointed pillar of granite
now broken across which leaves the
