opposite is 5' in height, 3'.5" in breadth & 1' in
thickness. The inner slab on the W [West] is gone
but that on the left or E [East] side of the passage
stands 12'.10" back from that in front measures
5' in height, 4'.2" in breadth and 8" in thickness.
The distance between the slabs probably in:
:dicates that the thickness of the wall at the
front was double that at the sides where the
steep slopes of the ridge gave additional
security from attack. At the S. [South] end
overlooking the loch has been another
gateway marked by a break in the wall &
one weathered upright slab some 2' in
height on the W. [West] side. Outside this entrance
& on the W. [West] of it are evidently the ruins of
some outbuildings now of indefinite plan.
On the W. [West] side towards the S. [South] end a break
in the wall may indicate a narrow port
from which access was gained to a well
in the bottom of the glen below. Halfway
along the E. [East] wall at the end of a natural
terrace sloping upwards from the S. [South] a
disturbance of the continuity of the wall may
indicate a fourth entrance or the site of
two chambers as has been suggested.
