017.03 A Substantial building two and three Storeys high. Situated in Broad Street and the Gaol Wynd, and is the Property of the town. It is Adorned with a lofty and handsome steeple Containing a Clock, a deep toned bell, as Well as Musical Bells which play a tune immediately before the Striking of each hour. The 1st storey Contains the Town Clerk's Chambers, Police Office, and Cells, the Second Storey Contains the Council Chambers, Police Court, and Justiciary Court, the latter fronts the Gaol Wynd; the third Storey Contains a Store and Office for the Inspector of Weights and Measures, and a lumber Room.
