047.16 Mr Bryden, in his contributions to the "New Statistical Account of Scotland" refers to this object as follows, in page 112, Vi... "Of this latter description" (referring to urns which were simply covered once with a flat stone and a little earth). "I have one in my possession which I found under the foundation of the glebe dyke. It measures 12 inches over the mouth, 10 inches over the bottom and is 10 inches deep. It contained a quantity of half burnt bones, and was covered with a pretty heavy stone, flat on the side next to the urn". The dyke referred to above is the boundary dyke of the glebe on the S. East, and the urn was found in an angle of it situated about 6 chains S.E. of the Manse.
