021 This name is applied to a large island situate at the N.W. [North West] entrance to the Sound of Harris and 4½ miles S.W. [South West] from Toe Head in Harris. It is almost round in shape, its greatest diameter being 2¼ miles. It is covered with excellent pasture, the whole island being at present under sheep and cattle.
Some 27 years ago there were 40 tenants living on this island, but today there is only a shepherd & his wife. The island belongs to the partish of Harris and is the property of Archibald Stewart Esqr., Ensey, Sound of Harris.
