The greater part of its inhabitants are employed in the Smithy, Joiner shop, or on the neighbouring farms of Loanknowe and Hassington East Mains. Several of its houses are not inhabited and appearently going to decay. The Eastern part of this village is the property of Archibald Smail Esqr. Edinburgh, the remainder belongs to the heirs of the late Colonel S. Bromfield. __
