I William Hogg Surveyor of Taxes Do Hereby Certify, that upon Carefull Examination
of the Foregoing Amount of Rates & Dutys upon Shops in the Burgh of Haddington
I find the Amount to be Three Pounds One Shilling & Six pence Sterling. And that
upon the 19th December 1785 I Delivered to Mr John Carfrae Collector of the said Duty
an Exact Duplicate of the above Account which contained my Oath that the Assessment
made on the Different Inhabitants was justly made & Notices of the dates aforesaid were
left with them for the Dutys charged against their Names
