ARBROATH
A Survey of the Dutie on two Wheeled Carts arisen in the Burgh of Aberbrothoch for
halfe Year commenceing the tenth day of October 1784 & ending the 5th day of April 1785 by William Greig Surveyor)
I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull examination of the forgoing duties I find they amount
[in] whole to One pound ten Shillings Sterling and that upon the [--] day of [--] 1786 I delivered Mr. John
[Melvill] Collector of the Cess and of the Said duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact duplicate of the above Account
([as will] Appear from [--]) duly examined and Compared with the foregoing which
[contained] my Oath that nottices were left with the Several persons before named, or at their dwelling houses of
[the] date aforesaid, requiring them within 14 days to give in a list of their Carts retained or employed by them from
[the] fifth day of July 1784 to the fifth day of April 1785, and that the said Account or Survey is made out from
acknowledgement of the Several persons therein named that each of them keep and use one Cart for the
purpose of hireing, therefore cannot by deinyed by them,

I Robert Aiken Surveyor aforesaid, Do hereby Certify that upon
carefull Examination of the foregoing several Rates and Duties
I find they amount to Two pounds four shillings sterling And
that upon the fourth of April I delivered to Mr James Johns [Johnston]
Collector of said duties an Exact Duplicate of and duly Ex [Examined]
and Compared with the foregoing Account which contained my
Oath And that notices were left with the several Inhabit [Inhabitants]
or at their dwelling houses And that the Rates and Duties
Annexed to their respective Names Are just and true charges a [against]
them to the best of my skill and knowledge.

A Survey of the Dutie on two Wheel'd Carts, Arisen in the Burgh of Brechine for one halfe
year commenceing the tenth day of October 1784 & ending the fifth of April 1785 by William Greig Surveyor
I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon Carefull examination of the foregoing
duties they amount in whole to one pound Sterling and that upon the [--] day of [--] 1786 I de
livered to Mr Alexander Valentine Collector of the Cess and of the Said duties for the Burgh aforesaid an
exact duplicate of the above Account (as will Appear from [--]
duly examined and Compared with the foregoing which contained my Oath that Nottices
were left with the Several persons before named or at their dwelling houses of the date a
foresaid requiring them within 14 days to give in a list of their Carts retained or employed
from the fifth day of July 1784 to the fifth day of April 1785, and that the Said Account or
Survey was made out from the acknowledgement of the Several persons beforenamed, that each
of them keep and use one and two Carts for the purpose of hireing, therefore cannot be
denyed by any of them

Thirteen Shillings Sterlling and that upon the Seventh day of March
I delivered to Andrew Huttcheson Collector for the Burgh aforesaid an Exact
Duplicat of the Above Account duly Examined and Compared with the foregoings
which Contained my Oath that Notices were left with the Several Inhabitants or
at their Dwelling houses of the Dates Annexed to their Respective Names that they were
to be Charged with the Sums hereby Certified to be dwe by them

A Survey of the Dutie on two Wheeled Carts arisen in the Burgh of Forfar for one

I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull examination of the foregoing Duties
I find they amount in whole to Sixteen Shillings Sterling, And that upon the [--] day of [--] 1786
I delivered to Mr. David Roberts Collector of the Cess and of the said duties for the Burgh aforesaid
an exact duplicate of the above Account (as will Appear from [--] I duly
examined and Compared with the foregoing which contained my Oath that nottices were left with the
Several persons before named or at their dwelling houses of the dates Annexed to their names, requiring
them within 14 days to give in a list of their Carts retained or employed by them for the halfe year from
the 10th October 1784 to the fifth day of April 1785, and that the said Account or Survey is made out from
the lists returned to me, and from the best information I could procure of the Carts of those who neglected

I Duncan Mac Nuier Surveyor aforesaid Do hereby Certify That upon Careful
Examination of the foregoing several Rates and Duties I find they amount in
whole to the sum of Three Shillings str [sterling], and that upon the thirteenth day
of March [Jaivijct] and Eighty six I Delivered to Peter Mac Arthur Depute
to Donald Campbell Esq. Principal Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh
aforesaid in absence of the said Donald Campbell an Exact Duplicate of
the above accompt duely Examined and Compared with the foregoing
which Contained my Oath, That Intimations were given to the whole

I William Brunton Surveyor aforesaid, do hereby Certify
that upon careful Examination of the foregoing several rates
and duties I find they amount in whole to £0.16.0 Stg. [Sterling] and
that upon the 18 of March 1786 I caused deliver to James
Black Collector of the said duties for the Burgh aforesaid
an Exact duplicate of the above Acct. [Account] duly examined and com
pared with the foregoing, & I do make Oath that the above is
a just List returned by the several Inhabitants when requisi
tions were made of the several dates aforesaid

A Survey of the Dutie on two Wheeled Carts arisen in the Burgh of Montrose for one
Year commencing the tenth day of Octr [October] 1784 & Ending the 5 day of April 1785 by William Greig Surveyor
I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull examination of
the foregoing duties I find they amount in whole to One Pound Two Shillings Str. [Sterling] And
that upon the [--] day of May 1786 I delivered Mr Robert Napier Junr [Junior] Collector of the said
duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact duplicate of the above Account (as will appear
from [--] duly examined and compared with the foregoing, which
contained my Oath that nottices were left with the several persons before named or
at their dwelling houses of the dates annexed to their several names requiring them
within fourteen days to give in a list of their Carts retained or employed by them from
The Tenth of Octr [October] 1784 to the 5th of April 1785, and that the said Account or Survey is
made out from the lists returned to me, and from the best information I could procure
of the Carts of those who neglected or refused to give in a list thereof in terms of the notties left
with them as aforesaid

to be Seven Shillings Sterling. And I do further Certify that upon
the 2nd January 1786. I Delivered to Mr Henry Watson Collector of
the said Dutys an Exact Duplicate of the foregoing Account durely
Examined & Compared. And which Contained my Oath that the
Foregoing Inhabitants were Served with Requisitions of the duty
aforesaid, & the Assessment laid on them was made out from their
Answers now in my Possession

I William Brunton Surveyor afored. [aforesaid] do hereby
that upon careful Examination of the foregoing for Rates and
Duties I find they amount in whole to £0.13.0 Stg. [Sterling] And that
upon the 18th of March last I Sent by Post to Edward Whigham Coll. [Collector]
of the Said duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact duplicate
of the above Acct. [Account] duly examined and compared with the foregoing
And I do make Oath that the above is a just list returned by
the Several Inhabitants when requisitions were made of the
respective dates aforesaid

in whole to Two pounds three Shillings Strg. [Sterling] and that upon the 23rd Current
I delivered to Mr John McGibbon in Stirling Collector of the said
Duties for the Borough aforesaid an exact duplicate of the Above Accounts
duly examined & Compared with the foregoing which contained my Oath
that Notices were left with the several Inhabitants or at their Dwelling
